Vegas pictures

Figured out where the camera cord was - at home....

Anyway, here are the fake people we turned right at, they have friends across the street as well. I really felt like a dumb tourist taking this picture, but really how many places have fake people on their corners? I thought that was only in the nuclear test houses in the Indiana Jones movie.

Here are the kids on Kitras horse P.J., he was a sweetie.

These are pictures from Red Rock on the last day. It's a lot like Moab, just smaller and without jeeps.

Here are the caterpillar cocoons.

Here is Uncle Kent teaching Andrew to flex his muscles.

The drive back was intresting, the winds were so bad they blew a semi off the road just outside of St. George, then we had rain so dirty it might as well have been mud, then we got back to Salt Lake in time for the snow storm that wasn't supposed to hit until Monday and we have about 8 inches. It is heavy and wet, good for the water supply, bad for the back. I'm missing Las Vegas already, but I'll take August in Utah over Nevada any day.
Oh, and another birthday in the family - Happy Birthday Steph! From what my husband said, she's in St. George herself right now.

Vegas sites

Yesterday we took the kids out to Hoover Dam. I thought they might get a kick out of it since Transformers was partially filmed there and they love that movie. My brother had also never been there so it was kinda neat for him as well. We went to lunch afterward at a place called B.J's. I had an awesome chopped salad. We went back to his apt and hung out for a bit, and then took the kids out to Red Rocks. There were cool little caterpillar cocoons on all the bushes. Some with multiple cocoons, each with nearly a hundred caterpillars, some were just hatching and tons where crawling all over the place. It was really neat. The idea was to take a picnic and we stopped at Subway. We got out there and let them crawl all over the rocks but the wind picked up and it got chilly so we picnicked in his living room. We'll be headed back this morning. The weather was about the same in Salt Lake as Vegas this week and about the time I get home it's supposed to snow. Yeah, what timing. I could get used to the current temperature.
