Before and After

Choosing colors.... I had one in mind but actually consulted with Paul before this project so I brought home some I liked and then some I thought he'd like since I figured he'd veto my choice. It was strange,we saw eye to eye. I liked the green one on top in the middle, but when we dropped it onto the chaise, you couldn't see it. I was really going more for a pop of color rather than playing I Spy with the furniture anyway so we went with the one I was really hoping for.
Before:After:It's so nice to have that done, I've hated it since I originally painted it *gasp* seven years ago! And now that bottom is re-done I'm thinking I need to re-do the top. Although I still love that color, we were touching up the Antique White (the color of the walls in the last house) and decided that it was the perfect honey color to top what Andrew describes as the pumpkin pie color - although it's a lot more like gingerbread. The color in the picture is pretty true.

catching up

We've been doing projects around the house. Somehow last week completely slipped by. For all of us. Nathan is supposed to read for 20 minutes a day and we didn't get it done even once. I'm not too worried, he reads above his grade level and is doing fine. We did however spend most of last week preparing for his first oral report last Friday which he got the highest marks on. He was excited and proud, which he should be. He really prepared well for it.

What started as a leaky hot tub a few months ago turned into a renovation. How does that always happen? Long story short we had to replace the hot tub (I guess we didn't have too, but you know...). We had one with a gas heater, they don't make those anymore, we got an electric one, we only had 120 going into the house and needed 220, we only had one inch conduit to direct burial, not to code anymore. Paul had to dig a trench over three feet deep to the neighbors where the box is, bury conduit and upgrade from one to three inch. We had the city inspector, the electrician, and the power company at the house yesterday and it's all done! And we were even able to get into the new hot tub last night. WOW, we should have upgraded a long time ago.

I have also had an intern working with me for the last three months. We only have 12 more hours to go, it's been nice having the help and working with her, but it will be nice to have my nights back as well. Al tough in the midst of all this I have been able to finish the latest Dan Brown book and another cross stitch project. And tomorrow the big plan is I took the day off to paint the living room before our Thanksgiving dinner. I might need my head examined. I'll post the before and afters when I'm done.

fall

this is another pictures of the leaves changing color from our jeep trip last month

this one I took from the hammock two weekends ago. I loved watching Nathan swinging, so carefree. almost all of the leaves fell off the tree last weekend so we are in the process of raking and mulching. supposed to snow again tomorrow but hopefully warm up again just a bit this weekend

happy fall

The leaves are or were mostly in a pile, they're a bit scattered now from all the neighborhood kids jumping in them. We pulled most of the garden out over the weekend, and due to the really nice weather got to spend some time in the hammock.

Trick -or-treating

The kids went trick or treating dressed as a ninja and Obi-won. I went as a witch with purple hair but the pictures didn't come out that great. There was a family down the street that did a haunted house in their drive way, so good in fact the kids took five steps in and changed their minds. I walked through holding Sam who decided she was brave enough to try it again. Did I mention they did a good job? I walked home looking over my shoulder under a full moon half expecting Michael Meyers to jump out from a bush.
